The best season to travel to Nepal

Spring and Autumn in Nepal

The months between monsoon season and dry season are considered to be the most favourable periods to travel to Nepal. In spring (March/April), the temperature gets warmer and warmer, rainfall is usally still limited and humidity very bearable. Another very pleasant period to visit Nepal is in autumn (late September/October). The intense monsoon rain and high humidity have declided then, while temperatures are still above 24°C.  

March/April and October are the best to travel Nepal.

Winter in Nepal (Dry Season)

Winters in Nepal (November – March) are usually mild during the day and cold in the morning, evening and at night. In general, the days are sunny with a beautiful blue sky. It barely rains during winter which is why it is also considered as dry season. Nonetheless, the nice weather might deceive you about the felt temperature. As soon as you are among the shades or the sun has set, it is chilly. A wool and scarf or muffler is recommended!

Summer in Nepal (Rainy Season)

The so-called monsoon season is the summer in Nepal (May – mid September). Heavy rainfalls as well as high humidity and high temperatures are common attributes of the monsoon. Nonetheless, it does not mean that it is raining all day. Monsoon only means that if it rains, it rains a lot – usually only for a short period of time! In general, you will have some hours of clear sky during the day. But be aware that temperatures are pretty high, especially in the South and in lower altitude.

After the big rain, everything cools down a bit.
